Week 3 Blog Post

I feel that the internet has in a way made the media more honest. Prior to the advent of the internet the media was the only way for most people to learn about current events and such (aside from word of mouth which would be constricted to local news mostly I would assume). In today's world you can read an article on CNN, then head over to Fox and get the "Fair and Balanced" version! ;) I tend to (when I have time compare sites such as CNN, Fox, Drudge, and BBC together prior to determining my take a on a situation. I find that this way you get a much broader perspective and are therefore a more educated reader. I find by doing this several interesting facts of bits of info left out by one source is included by another depending on what the media outlet wants the reader to take away from the article. By doing this I have also come to the conclusion that most all people in the media have an agenda and will paint the picture they want you to see by leaving out facts or making statements of opinion in such a manner that a less cautious reader assumes them to be facts. I find that Fox is probably the worst at this with CNN coming in at a close 2nd place. BBC does not distort the facts that much but the British do seem to have a hard time understanding why we (well some of us) enjoy and stick with our Constitution so much.

Facebook going public...

By no means am I a wiz or even come close to completely understanding how this sort of things work but since I use FB everyday I will definitely be watching closely!

Costa Rica

Last week my boss mentioned that I have 128 days of vacation on the books and that i need to use it or lose it so I started vacation planning... 1st stop Costa Rica! I have never been but judging by the pictures and stories I have heard its going to be a blast!
